Over 500,000 Attend Surrey Vaisakhi Parade & Festival


This years Surrey Vaisakhi Parade & Festival also known as the Surrey Khalsa Day Parade brought in a crowd of over 500,000 making it one of the largest event in the world – Outside of Punjab. Many people flew in from outside of Canada to attend the Parade & Festival.

Vaisakhi is a Holy Day that celebrates the birth of Khalsa by Guru Gobind Singh Ji, the tenth Sikh Guru, in 1699.

Many families, businesses, and volunteers set up tents and offered free meals to the community which is the act of Seva and langar, the two main aspects of the Sikh religion.

The 2019 parade included 20 organizations and 2,500 participants. Some of the organizations that participated are:
